THE PRINCE

“As a young man today living in this epoch, I have nothing to identify with.
From the moment I was born to now, I went from extreme masculinity being demanded from me (as a young boy), to this ‘masculinity is bad and everything virile is old-fashioned’ attitude that became trendy by the time I became a man. This neo-puritanism is so extreme right now. It’s suffocating seeing people disengaging from true curiosity about themselves. I worry about people from my generation becoming parrots, repeating quotes and statements that someone else wrote and thought for them. And somehow, they still manage to believe they’re free.” – Nuno Roque on gender-bending in ‘The Prince’ works.

This work integrates an Identity-themed series of performative self-portraits.
